A variation of last year's Prairie Fox ... join CBES for the Foxy Onion ride!
RIDE POSTPONED TO JUNE 20
We'll catch the 8:30am MD-W Metra out of Union Station to Bartlett. From there we'll ride north thru Barrington Hills to The Onion Pub in Lake Barrington for lunch and refreshments. Then we'll head west to Scorched Earth Brewing in Algonquin. From there it's onto the Fox River Trail southbound to Penrose in Geneva. The Metra station in Geneva can get us home unless you want to ride the 40 miles back to Chicago. Or 10 bonus miles to the Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora.
Total ride distance is about 54 miles. 64 if we go to the Roundhouse. Minimum rolling speed is 12 mph. This is a no drop ride but we don't always stay grouped together. You are responsible for yourself and your bike. Make sure to bring tools for flat or other minor repairs along with the ability to use them, water, bungee, and a lock. Large portions of the route are on public roads with traffic so please also drink responsibly.
Return Metra Options
Crystal Lake Trains: 2:00 4:00 6:00
Elgin Trains: 1:55 3:55 5:55
Geneva Trains: 2:37 4:37 6:37 8:37
Aurora Trains: 4:20 6:20 8:20

need to get some work done today. if successful, will reward myself with a ride tomorrow. have a good time!
Same here.
I'm catching Metra at Western.
5:30 or so I'm guessing. However that's assuming the group makes it down there. I had something come up and want to be back in the city by 6 so might not be able to make it to Penrose.
Ah ok. I may not make it to Geneva myself. I want to catch one of the 4 o'clock trains back to the city so may end taking Metra home from Crystal Lake or Elgin.
Around 2 I'm guessing.
Joining us late?
Hope the weather cooperates better than your schedule, Serge! :)
Ride postponed to June 20 due to weather.
Anyone so inclined I'll be at Begyle's Tap Room when they open at 11. Heading to Maifest in Lincoln Square around 12:30.
That being said the current forecast is for thunderstorms and 20-30 mph winds. If that keeps up the ride may be postponed and instead we can meet at Begyle's newly opened taproom when they open at 11 and then head to the Maifest at DankHaus at noon.
Decision will be made by 5pm on Friday and posted here.
Updated the route to include a stop at Scorched Earth in Algonquin.
