I'm taking the alt. route, possibly with a friend, starting a little later than 9am. See you there!

My husband and I are planning on coming, we will meet you all at Queen's Landing Saturday at 9am. Please let us know if there is a time of location change. We plan to bike Saturday, camp Saturday night, hike in the dunes Sunday morning and then take the Metra home. We have our own tent. Thanks!

ALTERNATIVE DIRECT ROUTE USING STREETS-------fyi

Take the lakefront path south to the end. Follow signs that direct you to the Daniel Burnham Greenway. Where the Daniel Burnham Greenway begins, Indianapolis Blvd starts there. You want to take IN BLVD eastbound. This also will is where its going to be labeled 12/20. In East Chicago 12 and 20 split. You want to hang to the left and follow 12. You will be on this for a while. Passing the lovely industrial areas, you also will see Gary-Chicago International Airport. When 12 approaches 90 you want to follow 12 when it joins with E 5th Ave for a bit. As 5th goes under 90, keep heading east and it turns back to 12. Right after going under 90, 12 is labeled Dunes Highway. This is where it is scenic and less traffic then the nasty Gary bit. You are going to pass Ogden Dunes and Dune Acres. We are a bit further. At Waverly hang a left and head north. There may still be markings on the road from the tour de shore. These lead to the park if you see them. At State Park road turn right. At N CR-25E turn left. Then CR 100 E will lead you to the park Indiana State Dunes Park, NOT national lakeshore. Good Luck, have fun, call when you get there. 773-759-3214
