Description

Bike Lane Uprising is a cyclist-led civic tech platform for reporting bike lane obstructions.  While many miles of bike lanes exist, they are often blocked by vehicles that use them as free parking.   Since launching over a year ago, over 7,000 bike lane obstructions have been submitted by cyclists in Chicago and 60 other cities to the database and have identified over 1,000 repeat offenders.  Volunteers work with local organizations, city departments, and companies to prevent obstructions resulting in safer public roadways for cycling.  Christina Whitehouse, founder, will share the story of how it got started, what it has accomplished, and plans for the future.
