No, this isn't about making a list of all the people we've harmed and becoming willing to make amends to them.
It's about trying to ride to Three Floyds every month this year. Now there's a consistent schedule -- the 4th Saturday of every month -- others have opportunities to lead (I can't make it every time), and you can qualify for the F-12 Award.
The ride takes the lakefront trail south from the Clock Tower. You can join up anywhere along the trail. Just let the group know where so they can look for you.
45 miles total if you take the Metra back, 70 if you ride both ways. 17-20 mph. I like to get there before they open at noon (it's the third-best brewery in the world, so sometimes there's a line). Bring money, government-issued ID, a lock, water and snacks to have en route, and panniers for beer you can't get in Chicago.
Online resources: Google map, cue sheet, Metra schedule, Metra rules, and, to save a minute at the start, the nifty online CCC waiver.

you get wet riding through puddles, but if you're already soaked, so what? well, puddles can hide other hazards. (via mark)
i had a fun day. and hope everyone made it home safe, and happy :-)
That rain felt good! Fun ride!
serge, where this time? will there be beer there?
Saturday 08/23 40% Cloudy skies during the morning hours followed by scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. High 82F. Winds NE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40%. |
new since last time:
You've worked hard to transform that abandoned soviet sub base formerly behind the curtain into world class secret lair. Now it's time to kick back and take a break from planning world domination. Don't you deserve a beer that celebrates your diabolical scheming? Secret Sub Lair IPA is brewed with an exclusive yet-unnamed hop that fits in perfectly with your clandestine lifestyle.
and i'm looking forward to some guest drafts, too:
With big boozy aromas that’ll swirl round your nostrils and a sweet viscosity that’ll cover your tongue from top to tip, this is a beer for people who enjoy nonsense and walking on tightropes.
Ol’ Leghorn was initially brewed by Floyd and Brynildson during last year’s Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Fest. In a shout-out to Firestone Walker’s and Nick Floyd’s mutual English heritage, this blonde barleywine was brewed with traditional English ale malting varieties—Golden Promise and Optic base malts- with no specialty malt added.
Chico King is a mash-up of our mutual passion for hoppy pale ales and combines a uniquely robust malt body with intense citrusy and fruity new school hop varietals.
