Description

Dark Lord Day is the only day of the year to buy Three Floyds Dark Lord Russian imperial stout, described in the NY Times as "plain goodness". DLD is a festival where participants can meet other beer enthusiasts, sample beers from all over the world, buy Dark Lord, try Oak Aged Dark Lord, eat BBQ, listen to live music, and generally have a great time.

We'll leave the clock tower at 8:30, pick up South Siders at the 31st Street beach house at 9:15, take a short break at Wolf Lake, partake of Dark Lord Day, and return.

Going, we'll take the Daniel Burnham Centennial Century route, coming back, the traditional winter route.

This will be a "TOUR ride" with few stops. We won't necessarily stay together. Faster riders may go ahead, and slower riders may drop back.

Bring money, a lock, snacks to have en route, and panniers for Dark Lord you don't finish there.

And be prepared for rain...

Anyone interested is more than welcome to meet us at the brew pub if they don't care to participate in the bike ride.

each ticket is good for more than one bottle? so people will have extras? :-) how much do you think a bottle will cost?

If I remember correctly from last year, you can get sample cups of dark lord. You just need a golden ticket to be able to purchase bottles.

eric, good idea, thanks. there might even be straight-out scalping?

My tactic, which worked last year, was to bring with me a big bottle of something somewhat unique (an Avery Reverend as it happened to be) and look for some one with multiple DLs and offer a trade... even a few bucks to sweeten the deal. I ended up getting a straight up trade. DISCLAIMER: If I remember correctly, that person was a friend of a friend so that might have helped. But without a golden ticket, you need to get creative.

hey everyone,

i spaced out and missed out on the "golden tickets". i'm not sure i want to ride all that way and not be able to try any dark lord.

did any of you get some tickets? if so, would you be willing to share your dark lord?
