Description

Dark Lord Day is the only day of the year to buy Three Floyds Dark Lord Russian imperial stout, described in the NY Times as "plain goodness". DLD is a festival where participants can meet other beer enthusiasts, sample beers from all over the world, buy Dark Lord, try Oak Aged Dark Lord, eat BBQ, listen to live music, and generally have a great time.

We'll leave the clock tower at 8:30, pick up South Siders at the 31st Street beach house at 9:15, take a short break at Wolf Lake, partake of Dark Lord Day, and return.

Going, we'll take the Daniel Burnham Centennial Century route, coming back, the traditional winter route.

This will be a "TOUR ride" with few stops. We won't necessarily stay together. Faster riders may go ahead, and slower riders may drop back.

Bring money, a lock, snacks to have en route, and panniers for Dark Lord you don't finish there.

And be prepared for rain...

Anyone interested is more than welcome to meet us at the brew pub if they don't care to participate in the bike ride.

the dark lord curses the day! lol i figure less people means more beer. taking the train back from flossmoor station isn't a bad idea...

the yield was around 12000 bottles.

@ iggi: This is very unfortunate as I'm declaring myself a fair-weather attendee. I loathe beginning any ride in the rain and as I'll be working in the rain on Friday and Sunday, I'd rather quaff some Half Acre in my dry home on Saturday rather than suffer through a ride in the rain.

Yes, I am weak.

Yep, rain again! Is the Dark Lord ride cursed? I'm bailing on the ride, but I'm going to be there. Planning on getting a ride there with my bike and cruising to Flossmor to take the train home when I'm good and boozy. Good luck to everyone else who's more hard core than I.

I was thinking I might bring a bottle of the Mikkeller 黑 (Black) to offer in exchange. From my other favorite brewer!

Robert, this is from the site's FAQ's:
The bottle limit will be announced as soon as we determine this year’s yield. We limit the amount a guest can buy so more people will be able to enjoy and share the beer.

The Sun-Times ran a feature on it today.

I was just furloughed from my job for this day and I can't think of a better way to spend it than riding to one of my favorite breweries.
