Description

The fastest rider doesn’t always win. Thinking through and understanding cycling strategy can make or break chances of a victory.

Guest speaker Paul Swinand will discuss race strategy, reading a race, and understanding it all.

Paul Swinand has been riding and racing bicycles since the late 1970s. He raced on top amateur teams in Belgium, France and Italy in the late 1980s, and also participated in the US National team program as a junior. He has won state, regional and collegiate championships in a number of different time periods and places, and in road, criterium, time trail and track disciplines. He has organized a top category 1-2 Pro team sponsored by Bud Light in the 1990s and now organizes and coaches the juniors program for the Pony Shop Juniors and the Northbrook Velodrome Parks District. He currently resides in Evanston and races with the Weather Channel Masters on the road and with his three kids on the Pony Shop Cyclocross team.
