Description

Chicago Reader’s Biker Village Presented by CLIF Bar’s 2 Mile Challenge

The Chicago Reader is teaming up with some of the city’s most vital and vibrant bicycle advocacy organizations and businesses to present the official bike parking facilities and amenities at Pitchfork Music Festival this year! Located at the southwest corner of the festival grounds at Ashland and Warren, the Biker Village will provide 9,500 square feet of secure and staffed bicycle parking for festival attendees. Additionally, we’ll have free air for tires, lubrication for chains, and hand washing stations for cleaning up before entering the festival. Stolen Bike Registry will be on site to demonstrate safe bike lock practices and sign cyclists up for the registry.

Inside the festival, the Chicago Reader will be joined by over a dozen bicycle advocacy group under their tent, including: Big Shoulders Realty, Active Transportation Alliance, The Chainlink, Chicago Cycling Club, Stolen Bike Registry, West Town Bikes, Break the Gridlock, Derailleur, Bike Winter, Midnight Marauders, Cycling Sisters, and Ride of Silence. Come check out the Village to find out how you can become more greatly involved in your cycling community!

We hope to see you there!

I just want to say that thanks largely to Lee's efforts this is a major score-- it's a wonderful acknowledgment of the importance of bicycling in the lives of younger city dwellers.
There are two tents-- one inside the fenced bike parking area at Ashland and Warren, and one inside the festival; Lee's assembled an unprecedented collection of literature and schwag at the inside tent relating to Chicago bicycle happenings, organization, and life.

I guess I should pay better attention when they're pitching it-- some incentive program (cash prize?) to get people to ride to work.

What is Clif Bar's 2 mile challenge? I'm from another planet and don't know.
