Description

Upcoming Community Presentation - Navy Pier Flyover Project

From Alderman Reilly

Dear Neighbor:

I am writing to invite you to join us at an upcoming public presentation to review the upcoming improvements to the Lakefront Path bike trail and pedestrian walkway (located at crossing of the Chicago River and Lake Shore Drive Bridge). Per my direction, the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) will make a full presentation of their proposal and will be present to answers any and all questions you may have regarding their project. My office will be present at this meeting to monitor the discussion, take notes and record your feedback.

The Navy Pier Flyover Project will involve substantial renovations to the existing bike trail that crosses the Chicago River at the Lake Shore Drive Bridge and result in a modern, bicycle and pedestrian friendly path for Chicago residents.

As you have come to expect, I am firmly committed to providing an open and transparent community review of all local development proposals. I hope you will join us on Thursday, July 15th to take advantage of this opportunity to engage in a direct dialogue with CDOT and their engineers to gain a better understanding of their proposal and receive answers to any questions you may have.

In the meantime, if I can ever be of assistance to you please do not hesitate to contact my office at (312) 642-4242 or visit my Virtual Office website at www.ward42chicago.com.

Sincerely,

Brendan Reilly
Alderman, 42nd Ward

This item became dormant almost immediately after being proposed in the 1990s, or earlier. I have long considered it DEAD. I will attend to see what they've come up with. Would be a nice compliment to the Solidarity Drive tunnel. (Of course, the easy way would be to ban auto traffic from the Outer Drive and make it a bike path.)

This is fabulous! I am so excited to see this. Unfortunately, I cannot attend tonight, but am excited to see any updates or attend future meetings.
