Updated Announcements!!!

Great news, looks like the weather will be perfect: Upper 70s and Low 80s

Please arrive Sunday morning at the Totem Pole at 7:45 AM so we can leave promptly at 8:00 AM, we are schedule to start canoeing at 10:00 AM we have lots of interesting things to see on the way there and back.

If you arrive early we can make sure your tires are inflated properly and do a quick safety check.

Jerome Hughes has gracefully volunteered to ride SAG, which was a huge help for us all on The Pullman Factory Adventure Tour. :-)

When we arrive at the Evanston community center we will be allowed to store our personal belongings, i.e. bags, panniers, etc in a locked office. (The canoe guides will have keys to get us in to lock up everything, even thought there technically closed Sunday)

Here is my cell phone number in case anyone needs to call me 1-312-213-6484

Things to bring...

- A Lock for your bike, we will have 2 huge bike racks in front of the Evanston Community Center all to ourselves to lock up our bikes.

- Water

- Cash or plastic to purchase lunch after the Canoeing (Or you can bring your own lunch)

- Light jacket just in case it gets chilly.

- Spare inner tube and patch kit if you have one.

Below are some common group ride cycling safety tips.

- Be aware of others around you such as fellow cyclists, runners, joggers (especially wearing earbuds), walkers, tourists, and pets. You may see them but they may not see or hear you coming.
- If you see a hole, large cracks, glass, or debri on the road please call it out so the cyclist behind you is aware.
- Follow at a safe distance. Your front wheel shouldn't overlap the rear wheel of the person in front of you this creates a serious hazard.
- Use hand signals when stopping quickly.
- Safely cross intersections. If you can't make the light, we will wait for you on the other side of the intersection.
- Be alert, it's great to have conversations with people while riding but remember to be aware of your surroundings and potential hazards.

Let's have a safe trip! This ride will not be as physically challenging as The Pullman Factory Adventure Tour but will be equally as fun if not greater!!!
