Description

Summer is almost over...and before the fall it is necessary to get in one last event summer tradition, the ice blocking expedition.

Ice blocking is the practice of balancing on a block of ice and sliding down a grassy incline. Essentially it is like sledding in the summertime.

The details of this ride are not finalized. We'll meet at the Humboldt Park Field House and bike somewhere with a hill to ice block. Please bring a towel and a buck or two for the ice blocks.

Drinks and good times will follow the ride.

Anyone willing to sign on for a class action suite against this summer? I was really hoping for one nice day, but no. The weather tomorrow really isn’t looking very conducive to ice blocking. Sitting on a block of ice isn’t much fun when you’re bundled up against the cold.

I may go on a normal bike ride, give me a call if you are interested (773-841-3979). I guess we’ll just have to go sledding when it snows….at the rate we’re going I’m guessing that will be late September.

Looks fun, but I'm unpacking boxes in new apt this weekend...still maybe I can make it out! Also wanted to volunteer for lakefront ride...I want to do it all....but I've never slid down a hill on an ice block.

If you want to be clean for drinking afterwards, that is fine, but not necessary. Ice blocking will likely get you dirty.

If it rains, I propose that we do the slip and slide idea provided by Iggi.

should we bring clean shorts for drinks...or jump in the lagoon afterwards (or just drink dirty - lol)
