Join Friends of Big Marsh at Revolution Bar for our Fall benefit party!
This Summer, Friends of Big Marsh made huge steps in park programming: our weekly #BikeBBQ series brought out neighbors from the surrounding communities every saturday, the short track racing series attacted more racers ever, and the Big Marsh Bike Ambassadors Program worked with young people to explore and promotes cycling in the Calumet!
Literal ground is being broken at the park as well! The Ford Calumet Environmental Center's construction is well underway, with the opening in early 2020 coming closer every day. Friends of Big Marsh is working tirelessly with Velosolutions and the Chicago Park District to complete an asphalt pump park adjacent to the Ford Center. These two projects will provide an all-season footprint at the park, transforming Big Marsh Park from the Southeast Side's best kept secret, to a regional destination and community engine for health and economic activity.
To complete this pump track construction project, and move on to the next phase of park development, Friends of Big Marsh needs your support! A generous donor has provided a $500,000 matching grant for all donations towards building a worldclass bike park at Big Marsh. That means that any money donated to Friends of Big Marsh at this event will mean twice as much into the development and construction of the pump track, extended single track, and the big hill!
Our party at Revolution Brewery will serve as a celebration as well as a call to action! Friends of Big Marsh will be joined by several of our teen ambassadors to share their experiences and vision of eco-recreation. We are also excited to preview our new website designed by Fuzzy Math! This website will serve to define and promote the park, as well as eco-recreation and commerce on the entire Southeast Side.
Tickets are $40 in advance here, $60 at the door.
Food and beer will be complimentary. The night will culminate with a silent auction and raffle.
Please contact paul@bigmarsh.org or at 872-221-2102 with any questions, or sponsorship requests.
