Description

We'll get up early, jump on the Metra to Harvard, ride 75 miles of gorgeous hills on Wisconsin's smooth two-lane blacktop to Madison where Becky Jollay will host us at her big house by the lake. Home cooking, local beer, mattresses on the floor.  In the morning, we wake up and ride back to Harvard unless we get waylaid at New Glarus or something.  Who's in?

if by "fx" you mean fixed gear, then you'll have a very hard time.  It's been done, but the folks who did it swore never to try it again.

We'll be crashing indoors--got a good friend with a house in Madison and a bunch of spare mattresses. Heather's gonna cook up a big batch of curry so we won't need to eat out. Pace will be on the slack side, no racing, but we do need to get to Madison before they stop selling beer at 9pm. (9pm they stop selling beer! the hell???)

I saw this event just now...I need to check the calendar more often. I'm seriously considering it. I need to get out of the city.

Do we need camping gear, extra food, sleeping stuff, or anything more than the standard stuff to bring on a long ride? What's the pace gonna be like?

the hills are awesome! Heather clocked us at 40 mph on a downhill last year--I've never gone that fast on a bike before!  I didn't have the gearing for it on my old bike, so I ended up walking up a couple of the biggest ones.

Hmmm. Thinking. Of going. Got new bike. How are the hills?

Yeah and too bad that I'd already plan on going camping that weekend
