Description

We'll get up early, jump on the Metra to Harvard, ride 75 miles of gorgeous hills on Wisconsin's smooth two-lane blacktop to Madison where Becky Jollay will host us at her big house by the lake. Home cooking, local beer, mattresses on the floor.  In the morning, we wake up and ride back to Harvard unless we get waylaid at New Glarus or something.  Who's in?

Ok, before you go to bed tonight, stock up on trail mix and cliff bars--for real, you'll need it.  We should meet for coffee at the Metra Station food court downtown at 8am.  Our train leaves at 8:30.

Everybody know where it is?  https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Ogilvie+Transportation+Center,+West+...

Crystal: I'll help push you up the hills if I have to, it's not so bad.... But the offer still stands for a ride out to my homestead someday... We have a pool. Just a beautiful 18 mile ride from the Fox Lake metra. Maybe next time? Riding out here is pretty fantastic if you like country cycling.

You folks are likely to cross paths with the faster riders on the GLR brevets this Sat. Here is the 300K route, see how the last third of that route partially overlaps yours.

we're gonna be crusty for sure by the time we get there. I'll have to ask Becky Jollay--our gracious host--about swimming!

No way. No fixie for me. Fx 7.3 hybrid 24 speed. I'm just not used to a great deal of hills. Also. It's sposed to be 90 wth heat index of closer to 100. Yikes.

Sounds good: I thought about biking down to Harvard to meet you from Burlington, but that would add 30+ miles and I know those hills out west pretty well, woooooo. I'll get my contact info out to you and if you'll be late/early, just give me a head's up asap so I can meet you.

Yes, the map posted is the route. 1.5 hours seems a little ambitious for the group, but if you are there early then you cant miss us!

Is the map posted on this page the actual route? I should be able to meet you @ turn #8 on the map ("E Co Rd M"... would you say, around noon? (arrive in Harvard @ 10:30, 23 miles in 1.5 hours?)
