The City of Homes Organization and the Berwyn Active Transportation Committee announce the second annual Berwyn Bikes and Bungalows bike ride event to be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 beginning at 8:30 a.m. The bike ride will highlight several of Berwyn’s kit homes and Chicago-style bungalow homes and seek to educate the community about new bike lanes and paths. Berwyn Bikes and Bungalows, the first event of its kind in the Chicagoland area, also will coincide with Bungalow Appreciation Week.
The family friendly event, which begins and ends at Cigars and Stripes on historic Route 66, will feature two separate rides. The first ride is a leisurely six-mile bike ride with intermittent stops to discuss the rich history of several bungalows as well as the Berwyn Active Transportation Plan, which aims to improve the city’s walking and biking environment. The second, concurrent ride, is a 25 mile self-guided tour of the Chicago area bungalow belt, stretching from Berwyn to Portage Park on Chicago’s northwest side. A post-tour celebration, including food and entertainment, will conclude the event.
Adult participants can register online at www.cityofhomes.org/events for the nominal fee of $5 or at the supporter level for $20, which includes a generous, tax-deductible $15 donation to the City of Homes organization. Children under 18 ride for free, but must register for the event. Or, you can call the Berwyn Development Corporation to register at (708) 788-8100; ask for Kurtis. Space is limited.
The Berwyn Bikes and Bungalows bike ride event is being held in support of area resident and bicyclist Justin Carver.
Berwyn is located in Chicago’s near western suburbs, approximately 20 minutes from the Chicago Loop. The City of Homes is dedicated to making Berwyn the primary destination in the Chicago area for families and individuals seeking an affordable, walkable, location-efficient and transit-oriented community.
Visit www.cityofhomes.org/events for more information and to register.

Glad you made it. The weather was so iffy right up to Saturday morning.
Had a good time. Thanks for doing something good in Berwyn.
The shorter family oriented rides around Berwyn are all between 10 and 10:30. Looks like the last one is sold out although if enough people register another group will likely be added.
I have plans in the morning, will there be anything going on after 10AM?
Sure can!
Also, this just in as of last night. Ronnie, legendary owner of Cigars and Stripes BBQ lounge, is going to have a food and beer special after the rides.
Trying to motivate the family to do this. Can we register at the event?
