Description

My first long ride of the season, last year, was to this location and was also in March, although a bit earlier.

Meeting point:

  • 9:00 AM at Clark and Lake CTA station to take the Blue line to Forest Park then ride the IPP to Aurora and drink and eat lunch at Two Brothers Roundhouse. We will leave no later than 9:15 on the Blue Line toward Forest Park
  • 10:30 AM at Forest Park Blue Line station
  • If you are riding all the way from the city, then please make sure you make one of the above meeting point.
  • Call/Text me if you're running behind


We'll bring back some brews and take the Metra back.

Bring water and snacks for the trip there and also maybe a jacket to keep you dry and warm.

Route:

The first choice is to take the Illinois Prairie Path.

The second choice of travel is to use a proposed paved route.

Thanks Chris, that route will work. I really didn't think that you could go through Fermilab at all.

Well, no. We'll still start from the end of the Blue line. And we'll still meet at Clark and Lake at 9:00 am.

I'm going to do Alex's route, but turn left on Barkley avenue and right on 56, then left on Briggs, left again on Estes, and right on 59 then take the IPP from there.

Or maybe left Meadow, right on 59 south and get to the IPP.

That's too out of the way just to do some riding. The idea is to ride to Roundhouse.

Chris, any ideas? Any way to get to FRT from Batavia  to go south?

Actually, wait, that's 2B in Warrenville.  To get to Aurora, on Mack Rd turn on Batavia Rd, and ride through Fermilab, then ask Chris what local roads to take to the FRT.
