Description

My first long ride of the season, last year, was to this location and was also in March, although a bit earlier.

Meeting point:

  • 9:00 AM at Clark and Lake CTA station to take the Blue line to Forest Park then ride the IPP to Aurora and drink and eat lunch at Two Brothers Roundhouse. We will leave no later than 9:15 on the Blue Line toward Forest Park
  • 10:30 AM at Forest Park Blue Line station
  • If you are riding all the way from the city, then please make sure you make one of the above meeting point.
  • Call/Text me if you're running behind


We'll bring back some brews and take the Metra back.

Bring water and snacks for the trip there and also maybe a jacket to keep you dry and warm.

Route:

The first choice is to take the Illinois Prairie Path.

The second choice of travel is to use a proposed paved route.

I planned it on Google Earth before riding it, and the hardest part of planning the route was figuring out how to cross the West Branch of the DuPage River without going on Butterfield Rd.  The only option was Mack Rd. and the only way to it were on those godawful windy residential roads.  When we happened to ride that part, sans GPS, we proceeded to get completely lost and had to ask a pedestrian for directions.

The route was awesome! Thank you for that.
All the time that we were riding after Wheaton, I kept wondering how the heck did you find this the route? Especially about the part where it went through the residential areas.
I mean, if I didn't have my GPS and your route, I wouldn't have been able to figure this out.

We have left Clark and Lake. Next checkpoints will be Forest park Blue Line stop. We'll leave there by 10:30
