Sorry not to have met you, Doug.  It was such a big group!  We should have had a secret signal for Chainlinkers.  Hope to meet you at another event.  And yes, thanks to Joe and all for a really good ride.  Will definitely plan to do this again.

A big round of applause to Joe, creater of the event and owner of Amlings, the owner and staff of Mystic Celt and the United States Marine Corps for another fun and successful charity toys ride. One of the few rides that isn't "all about us." I was hoping to meet fellow Chainlinkers. I mentioned that I would be pulling my own cargo trailer. Perhaps I also should have mentioned rhat I would be the only one there with right and left helmet mounted rearview mirrors.

Tis the night before the ride and all through the city the cyclists are on their way. They've loaded lots of toys and games in their trailers and every Marine is gonna smile to see the loads of goodies arrive. And so I offer you a special treat for Chainlink Toys for Tots participants who may find it hard to sleep tonight. The Geminid meteor shower peaks late the 13th through early the 14th. The radiant will be near the star Castor. Look for it high in the southeast just above the star Castor which is just above the star Pollux (the twins) in the constellation Gemini. With clear skies and a new moon it should be a good show even in light polluted areas. There will be between 80 to 120 per hour.

Lisa, the tickets will be a buck a piece and 6 for $5.  There is no question we all have to be early birds and its really easy to forget something at 0 Dark... I plan to have things layed out like a school kid and have the tires pumped. I might even set the timer on the coffee maker. I stopped by the shop last night to drop off my discs.  Joe has gone completely recumbent.  No regular bikes. Its all machines for bent riders.  Bring a camera.  The variety of bikes hanging on the walls and on the floor make for some great bike porn.

Kara, I sent you a friend request so we can PM details if you are interested in a ride.  Also, have not seen rain in the forecast for Friday although it looks like it will rain on the Saturday Santa Rampage--a different event altogether. :D

David, thanks for the reminder, especially about tipping the waitress!  At 0 dark hundred I don't know if I would think about actual money!  How much are the raffle tickets?

Please bring a few bucks with you on Friday. I will be selling raffle tickets.Joe is runing a raffle to defeay some of the costs of running this great event. The prizes will include the usual lot of bike shop goodies including a tuneup, lock, floor pump, bags, a light and other goodies. Also, we want to tip our waitress at Mystic Celt. Her boss is being a great guy and feeding us breakfast but the employees are just folks doing a job and making a living. Leta thank them for their hospitality.

Folks, I am absolutely humbled by the outpouring of support here.  Thank you!

I am coming from West Town, just southeast of Wicker Park. I would be getting on the Division stop of the blue line... If you are willing, that might be a motivating factor to push me over the edge to register :-). Although, I am a little worried about the forecast for rain that day.

Kara, where are you coming from?  I am making my poor husband drop me off in the morning and we live in Wicker Park.
