Meet up with your friends, neighbors and Aldermen from near northwest side neighborhoods who have a deep and abiding affection for biking, walking and transit. We'll be joined by 1st Ward Ald. Moreno, 30th Ward Ald. Reboyras and 35th Ward Ald. Colon for a debriefing on their March trip to the Velo-City Conference in Seville, Spain.
Ten city council members from Chicago and around the country participated in the 2011 Velocity City Conference. In just three years Seville has transformed into a cycling city. In 2006, 0.2% of all trips were made by bike. In 2010, 6.6% of all trips were made by bike. The purpose of the trip was to learn from Seville's experience and to adapt their innovations and ideas to U.S. cities. Come out and hear what these aldermen took away from Seville's cycling renaissance and how they might adapt that city's innovations and ideas to Chicago.
The event will take place April 20 from 6-8pm at The Boiler Room, 2210 N California, Chicago. Free and open to the public, no RSVP necessary. Cash bar and food menu available. Attend or organize a Social in your neighborhood to meet other local advocates and enjoy some fun social time. http://www.activetrans.org/socials
