Active Trans Members Night-Out: RIDE

Active Trans members are invited to a night out at the Den Theatre for a performance of RIDE, followed by a discussion about urban cycling, safety for vulnerable road users, and the work of our Crash Support Hotline. Purchase tickets for the March 24th performance independently, and we'll meet for a conversation at a nearby pub (TBD) afterward. About the performance:

Under the Rug Theatre Company debuts with the world premiere of RIDE, by Neil Connelly. RIDE opens Friday, March 4th and runs through April 3rd at The Den Theatre. Set entirely in an Uptown bike shop, RIDE examines the issues that stem from cyclists and motorists struggling to respect each other’s space in the streets of Chicago and the often fatal results from these misunderstandings. 

RIDE is set in a bike shop whose owner, Cal, has been hit by a cab and killed while riding his bike. There, his estranged siblings encounter Cal’s mechanic and his girlfriend, leaving these four individuals to quarrel over the destiny of the shop as they attempt to align Cal’s wishes and dreams with their own desires.

Under the Rug Theatre Company is producing RIDE with help in part from local organizations, including Active Transportation Alliance, Bikes ‘N Roses, The Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce/ SSA #33, and the American Diabetes Association, including their Tour de Cure event. 

RIDE will run at The Den Theatre (1333 N. Milwaukee in Wicker Park) from Friday March 4th to Sunday April 3rd, with performances scheduled Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm, and Sundays at 6 p.m.
