Lake Victoria is the world's second largest lake, exceeded in size only by Lake Superior. It straddles the Equator and is bordered by Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya. Veteran touring cyclist George Christensen spent six weeks in East Africa making a circuit of the lake as well as taking a few side trips, including Murchison Falls National Park, where 'The African Queen' was filmed.
Along the way he visited the village where President Obama's father grew up and where his grandmother still resides. His travels took him through several game parks where he had close encounters with more than a few wild creatures. He was joined for a portion of his travels by an equally well-travelled German cyclist, who was biking to South Africa for the World Cup. Christensen will give a digital presentation on his third cycling adventure to Africa, drawing comparisons to South Africa and Mozambique and other countries he has biked.
