Description

This is a very unofficial randonneur-type of bicycle riding event. 100km (or 40km, see below) with several mandatory taco shop checkpoints. This is not a race. Average pace must be 21-29km/hr. Points will be awarded for any of the following: steel bikes, single speeds, mustaches, extra taco consumption, tequila shots, etc. Points don't mean anything, though. The course will be mainly crushed limestone and pavement.

This event is *FREE* to participate in, but please bring cash to pay for your tacos and gratuity. Bring even more cash to buy merch. T-shirts and Purist bottles will be available for sale. Stickers will be free (don't be a jerk and take a handful, please). Merch will be in limited supply, so message me if you'd like to pre-order t-shirts or bottles.

THIS PART IS IMPORTANT!!!!!! KEEP READING!!!!!!
Teams of 5 will be required for the 100k ride. This ensures everyone has someone to ride with so no one gets left behind. Most importantly, it helps the taco shops. 5 stops + 5 people on a team = one person buys 5 tacos at each stop for the whole team (ie: 80% less transactions at each register). If you don't have 4 friends, make some. If you can't make some, post up below. If that doesn't work, be friendly the day of and make a group.

SHORT RIDE INFO:
-There is a short ride option.
- It's 40km (~24 miles).
-It's also free.
-Still bring cash for tacos, tips, and merch.
-4 taco stops on this one.
-Teams of 4 are required for this one.

MERCH PREORDER INFORMATION:
Bottles will be clear Purist bottles with black Rando de Taco logo and pattern wrap (see event cover photo) and a green MoFlo cap. $10 each.

T-Shirts will be black Canvas brand (fit and feel like American Apparel) with a Rando de Taco logo (see above) printed in whatever color I feel like (probably white and/or red). $15 each.

It'd be super great if you could send me money (and a note about what it's for) via PayPal (ashton.brackett@gmail.com), but a "promise to buy" can be good enough if you'd prefer to pay cash the day of the event.

Presented by A.Brackett Cycles Workshop.

*Conversions and definitions for uncultured Americans:
100km = ~62 miles
40km = ~24 miles
21km/hr = 13mph
29km/hr = 18mph
"Randonneur-type of bicycle riding event": "a long-distance cycling sport with its origins in audax cycling. In randonneuring, riders attempt courses, passing through predetermined "controls" (checkpoints) every few tens of kilometers. Riders aim to complete the course within specified time limits, and receive equal recognition regardless of their finishing order. Riders are expected to be self-sufficient between controls."
