It's a bite-sized taste of bike camping awesomeness.

Last year, we took folks and families of all stripes and wheel configurations out on a 50-mile, all-trail triangle of overnight bike camping fun. It was our first-ever GITy Up! event, giving cyclists a tantalizing taste of the adventure waiting on Illinois trails.

We're back for seconds: July 20-21, 2013, we're returning to the Illinois Prairie Path and Fox River Trail for the 2nd Annual GITy Up!, and we want you to join us.
  • 50-miles of well-marked leisurely cycling over two days on the historic Illinois Prairie Path and Fox River Trail in Chicago's western suburbs—this year's route includes an Aurora option
  • Family route bike camping option just 8-miles each day along the scenic Fox River Trail
  • Beautiful, peaceful camping at St. Charles' Delnor Woods; limited hotel rooms available
  • Easy packing - we haul all your gear!
  • Great for families, for bike camping newbies, for bike touring vets with a weekend free
  • Tons of fun along the route - quarry swimming, rated restaurants and breweries, historic sites and beautiful preserves
  • Dinner & breakfast are on us!
  • Camp fire songs and s'mores - lots and lots of s'mores!
Registration is open, and please don't dally—GITy Up's limited to just 200 riders. 

REI returns as our overnight bike camping partner, and will host GITy Up! bike camping classes at their Chicago-area stores to help you prepare—watch their class schedules to find one near you.

I wouldn't miss this for anything. I did the inaugural S24O and it was the most fun I ever had with a bike.
