Description

British Bicycles of Chicago is hosting the 2010 Bonfire Tweed Ride. Don your best woollies, strap some wood to your bicycle rack and join us.

The route will be from Ravenswood to Bubbly Creek with stops along the way at a relaxed pace. We will take in parks, industrial and residential areas as darkness falls. The finale will be the lighting of a bonfire!

Warm yourself by the glow of the fire, after riding in style with friends old and new. Cue sheets, spoke cards and prizes will be provided.

Took my 3-speed steed, my Phillips http://tinyurl.com/2w3wnf3, around the forest preserve on a shake-down run today. Rear wheel slipped forward and needs tightening, as does the handlebar clamp bolt. The rear cones may be a touch too tight, too?

Preliminary weather forecast is dry & sunny, but not very warm: just high 40Fs, they say ...

The route continues to evolve, but will include beautiful residential neighborhoods, heavy industry, magnificent architecture, parks and fewer stops than last year.

I've been moving my copious, and rather heavy, bike menagerie from Points A to B over the last few weeks. And what did I discover ... but a bunch of balaclavas and neck warmers made by Cricket & Co. So I'll be passing the largess at the start of this year's Bonfire of the Vanities!

Good morning, sir.

Wooster
Topping morning, what?

Jeeves
Most clement for November. Especially after all the drizzle last week.

Wooster
Why does it always rain for Guy Fawkes, do you think?

Jeeves
The Americans have the same complaint about their own Independence Day, I believe. It has been theorized that the smoke from gunpowder has an adverse effect on the weather.
