Hey chainlink -
It’s Jody, and surprise – I’m shouting out for volunteers again. Okay, okay, sarcasm doesn’t travel over email very well, so I’ll just skip to the nitty gritty…
Sunday Parkways, our version of Ciclovia http://www.streetfilms.org/archives/ciclovia-express-version/, has finally passed all the red tape and gotten all the long-awaited approvals. Think Bike the Drive meets an active Sunday at the park, where we invite the community to get outside and be active on car-free streets October 5th and 26th.
It is important that we gather enough great volunteers for this event because we hope to continue to throw more like it. Also, just imagine how cool it will be to be a few years from now when you can proudly talk about how you helped throw the very first one ever to hit Chicago!
Sunday Parkways runs along Chicago’s boulevard system and will connect Logan Square, Humboldt Park, Garfield Park, North Lawndale and Little Village neighborhoods
Bogota did a great job, and it’s traveled all over. New York has recently adopted it and you can even meet a few of their Course Marshal (our most popular volunteer position!) volunteers here: http://www.streetfilms.org/archives/summer-streets-2008-nyc/
Grab a friend or a group and join us to make this event safe and fun for everyone. Volunteers are needed 7:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on both October 5th and 26th!
All volunteers are required to attend ONE of the following orientation sessions:
Garfield Park Conservatory: Monday, September 29th, 3:30pm OR 6pm
Logan Square (location coming soon): September 30th, 1pm OR 6pm
Humboldt Park (tentative): October 1st and/or 2nd
All day-of-event volunteers will receive a Sunday Parkways T-shirt and snacks.
Please register to volunteer by September 29th by contacting me at the info below.
Thanks in advance to everyone who helps throw yet another spectacular event!!

Not quite sure it’s worth getting up early on a Sunday? Give yourself some time to watch the full, feelgood coverage of Ciclovia here: http://www.streetfilms.org/archives/ciclovia/
