From the organizer:
The ride to Kenosha is ON! We've got a few enthusiastic and devoted souls
ready to hit the trails EARLY on THIS Sunday to make the trek out to the
mecca of cheese, Mars Cheese Castle. One of them just called asking some
questions, and I wanted to post the responses and ALSO let you all know
you're ALL invited and very welcome to come along. Also, feel free to make
any additional suggestions regarding the following, as none of us can be TOO
educated about any topic (right?)

SO.take a look, and please come along. If you love the cheese, the cheese
will love you back!

1. I just looked at it for my first time
(http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Chicago-to-Kenosha), although someone
sent it to me before. It's essentially the same exact route I've been
looking at on bike maps. Sometime this week I'll get a really detailed
route, straight to the Cheese Castle on gmaps-pedometer.com. It's an
awesome site which I've used to detail routes before.

2. Sweet. New bikes are nice. I've got a relatively new bike as well, and
I'm looking forward to doing a long stint on it. As far as your backpack
goes I would recommend the following:

Snacks

Water

Money / credit card

Bike tools (I'll have a lot on me)

Extra change of clothes (incl. underwear & socks)

Raingear / Garbage bags

Extra layer (if it's chilly)

Space for Cheese!

Something to tie up your bike with on the Metra!!

If there's anything else you like to take with you, feel free. Some people
like to drink booze and smoke stuff too. As far as clothing goes, something
comfortable works. I'm sure if you recall your ride out to the suburbs, you
will get warm pretty quickly. Since it's pretty fall like outside these
days, it will be good to have layers. Good materials are those that don't
retain moisture. Wool and those synthetic athletic shirts work nice. Also,
I generally try to avoid cotton underwear if I can help it. Usually I just
sub out the undies with gym shorts.

3. I think we'll probably be able to come up with a 12-14 mph average.
What kind of new bike are you riding? Road bike, right? As long as you're
not riding a mountain bike or cruiser, this should be easy to do. However,
I still think leaving between 9 am and 10 would be good. The earlier the
better as far as I'm concerned. That being said...let's do 9 am, with a
pankake meet-up at 8 am.
