Description

Do you like history, water birds, bicycling with little or no auto traffic, join me on Saturday Aug. 4th on the fox. Forty five miles of carefree cycling along the banks of the Fox river. We start in the little town of South Elgin just over the river and one block south( of State St) in S.E.B.A. park (on the west bank of the fox river) We will ride south on the old railroad path (past a outdoor working interurban railroad museum ) through the Blackhawk forest preserve, across the Fox river, uphill into St Charles, through Geneva, Batavia, (home of windmill manufacturing) and on to Aurora where we will visit Walter Peyton's Roundhouse Complex for lunch . We return along the river to South Elgin with a few more sights and sounds along the way. Come join us at 9:00 A.M. we should be back to our cars by 2:30 P.M. I allow one hour driving time from Evanston. 45 miles, moderate (13-14 mph).
