Starting from the Sultzer regional library club meeting, this ride will be to the Metro to a concert by the band Okkervil River Green Tour at the Metro in Chicago (Clark and Grace). From the promoter Constant Artists is the following publicity blurb: Okkervil River is an Austin, Tx based band who have appeared on the Conan O'Brien show and will begin their fall green tour to promote their newest album The Stand Ins. Their recent album "The Stage Names" was chosen as the #1 album of 2007 by Harp Magazine, they recently appeared with Roky Erickson at this year's SXSW, and Lou Reed named them one of his favorite contemporary bands. The band is really passionate about promoting the "Green" lifestyle in a tangible way to their fans and is looking into local alternative transportation outlets at their various tour stops. After doing research into green touring and ways bands can reduce their carbon footprint, we found out that over 80 % of a concert¹s CO2 footprint is from the fan¹s commute. With this in mind, we are partnering up with local bike advocacy organizations and wanted to reach out to the Chicago bike community. Okkervil River will be performing at the Metro on 10/14.
