Description

Come and Join the festivities as REI Lincoln Park celebrates all things cycling. Ride your bike and take use of the bike valet or bring an old bike to donate! There will be hands on fix-a-flat demos, lots of groups to meet with, classes all day.

SWEEPSTAKES: Enter to win a Novara Bike!

MEET & GREET: Are you looking for people to ride with, new trail/route ideas, take a class on improving your riding skills, want to support cycling advocacy or the building of new trails? Then chat with our excellent cycling partners.

RECYCLE AN OLD BIKE: Bring in any unused bike, no matter the condition for donation. The bikes will be fixed up or stripped for parts. Nothing goes unrecycled.

WRAP UP: A post event ride and after party at Whole Foods. It's a can't miss event!

Specials include: $6.00 Summer Cocktails $3.00 Sangria Pints and $1.00 off all beer taps! Head over to Whole Foods, enjoy a beverage and thank them for supporting cycling in Chicago.

 

Sweepstakes Details:

 

REI will be raffling off a Novara Buzz One during the festival.

 

Bike Valet:

 

REI will be offering Bike Valet Services at the bike racks located at the rear of the store in the parking garage

UPDATE: Here are the complete details on the Festival!

On Saturday July 16th LPK will host Bike Fest from 10am – 4pm. The event will feature family activity stations, displays and giveaways from vendors & community partners, a bike donation drive to benefit the Recyclery Collective, educational classes from our staff, and a sweepstakes for a Novara Bicycle. During the festival, Whole Foods in Lincoln Park will be offering festival drink specials at their 1550 bar!

 

The Class Schedule for the day is as follows:

 

10am - Basic Bike Maintenance

11am - Bicycle Touring Basics

12pm - Basic Bike Maintenance

1pm - Ted Villaire Presentation and Book Signing

2pm - Basics Bike Maintenance

3pm - Bike Commuting Basics

 

Bike Donation Drive Details:

 

REI will be collecting bike donations during bike fest for the Recyclery: http://www.therecyclery.org/ "The Recyclery Collective seeks to build community through the restoration of donated and discarded bicycles. They share resources and knowledge in order to support an affordable, independent, and sustainable mode of transportation. In this spirit of education and mutual aid, they encourage discussion about how our transportation choices affect the health of our communities and our environment."

Whole Foods After Party Details:

We will be offering wristbands to customers that will identify them as festival participants. Whole Foods Market in Lincoln Park will be offering festival drink specials from 10a – 4p
