Description

Join us for 12th annual Perimeter Ride of Chicago!

Buckingham Fountain. Ride meets at 8 am and promply leaves at 8:30 am

This is a moderately paced ride so leave your scorcher at home.

We will be meeting at the Buckingham Fountain and head south, then west, then north, then east and finally south again encompassing the vast perimeter of one of the greatest cities in the world, Chicago!

This is a century! Bring a bike that is in good working order and has decent tires on it, the south and westsides has some glass issues that are beyond our control. Bring plenty of water and clothing that you can layer up with when the sun goes down. Finally bring cash for the food stops.

JoAnna: There will be contact numbers.

Chris: Similar route to 2012-not the same.

Miguel: It is possible to join the ride en route. There will be contact numbers provided as well as target times for various destinations.

Is there  contact number? The place where I drop off my dog does not open until 8am... so I maybe cycling a bit late, but would love to meet up ASAP. I think, from the past..you ride down the south shore trail for a while..but I would appreciate a contact number "just in case". thanks.. looking forward to this amazing ride!

Will the route be similar to the one in 2012? I'd like to hook on for the after 6 PM portion as family commitments take up my daytime hours. Thanks.

Is it possible to join in later, sayyyy around noon? How would I know where you are? I have work at La Feria del Mole in Little Village in the morning.

Hey David, what was your most awesome tires+tubes?  I want to get the same, soon.

While you're working on planning the route - has this ever been one of the western stops?  I'd never heard about it until recently, but think it could be an interesting addition.  http://www.findaspring.com/locations/usa/fountain-of-youth-shiller-...

I am working on having food trucks at Argus Brewery.

I will know more later today if there will be a vegan option.

In any event there will be a vegetarian option...

Hey all!  2012 data assets are at http://massup.us/now/r?d=20120929

That shows the planned and ridden routes and some photos.  Hover to see what times we were where.  Click Options for exports.  Note that I (and hence the plot) ended at Rogers Park.  Others went on another 10 miles to Cal's in the loop.

My final Google Maps version here includes last year's planned route AND ride plot, cue points, Metra stops and vege restaurants.  Anybody, just ask if you want a collaborator link.

Bring your own was an expedient solution.  And several did so lavishly in vegan cookies and such.  OvoLactos like me were fine with fried stuff, beers, mini-mart nuts, ice cream...  Regardless of diet, one should pack food for such a long ride. I brought protein bars, crunchy things, sammiches, two frozen sportsdrinx...

There are vege options near two of the food stops (Sistahs Vegan Restaurant is by Rainbow Cone, Amitabul is by SuperDawg).  We so overwhelmed food staffs that spreading the load has value.
