Join us for 12th annual Perimeter Ride of Chicago!
Buckingham Fountain. Ride meets at 8 am and promply leaves at 8:30 am
This is a moderately paced ride so leave your scorcher at home.
We will be meeting at the Buckingham Fountain and head south, then west, then north, then east and finally south again encompassing the vast perimeter of one of the greatest cities in the world, Chicago!
This is a century! Bring a bike that is in good working order and has decent tires on it, the south and westsides has some glass issues that are beyond our control. Bring plenty of water and clothing that you can layer up with when the sun goes down. Finally bring cash for the food stops.

just the one you posted from last year's ride and the turn-by-turn cue sheet from a few years ago. Only a very slight chance we'll get lost.
Y'all got a map in work online somewhere pretty please?
I usually say that if you ride to work three days a week, you're almost certainly in shape for this ride. Some folks Will race off ahead with a route map, but the mass of the ride will be comfortable to anybody who's done a long Critical Mass route and then gone home on the other side of town.
The pace of the Perimeter Ride has been, at times during it's storied history, excruciatingly moderate. This year, we are attempting to cut back a bit on frequency and duration of stops, with the hope of getting the group to the finish line at or before midnight. As in past years, the organizers have no control over unexpected mechanical or medical issues. No one will be left behind, but participants should have some experience and comfort with riding on city streets. For those who feel truly pooped out, there are numerous Metra and/or CTA options to get you back to the Loop (@ 25, 35, 45, 65, and 80 mile distances right off the top of my head). Throw in several stops for beer, food, and ice cream, totaling 5 hours or so, and you get the picture. Your instincts are sound-it really is (mostly) a fun time.
You are all welcome to a pitstop at my house in Oak Park near Oak Park Avenue. See you Saturday.
Thanks Anne. I also intend to call Rainbo Cone with a 45 minute heads up before our projected arrival time. Our Major Taylor segments will be from 127th to 105th, and from 91st to Damen. FWIW, we pre-rode them on Sunday, and they were pretty clear.
FYI - Sistah's on 95th St. is no longer open.
I'll give the park district a heads up to make sure the Major Taylor Trail gets swept. A note on that - while park district folks have been doing a good job, street crossings are often problematic, especially from 124th to 119th. They're better further north.
I'll also let the Rainbow Cone folks know that Saturday is the big day.
The plan is to kill last year's times. Barring disaster, fewer early stops, and a prompt 8:30 am departure, we should be 2+ hours ahead of last year's pace after 35 miles. We'll be at Argus Brewery between 12 and 12:30. We'll leave Argus at or before the time we arrived there last year.
Barring disaster, I'll be ridecasting as usual on http://massup.us
One could start guestimating using times on last year's plot. We reached the South Shore Cultural Center before 10am.
