When asking around, I heard these three candidates are some potential good bike-friendly options:

Mendoza

Lightfoot

Eniya

That's a pretty broad paintbrush you're wielding, keto. Furthermore, as I read it, she served as Interim First Deputy of the Chicago Department of Procurement Services and was in the post for less than a year.

With  a field of 14 and no one polling over 20 percent, yeah, a run-off was always guaranteed. Given how tight the polls' margins are (for what they are worth), I would be quite surprised if we know the top two vote-getters by this evening.

Bill Daley's proximity to the Chicago way goes far deeper than just his father and brother, Richard J. and Richard M., the former mayors of Chicago. Then there's his brother John, Cook County Commissioner. His nephew, Patrick Daley Thompson, the current 11th Ward Alderman. And then there is his son, William Daley, Jr., a registered lobbyist at City Hall in his capacity as an executive at Morgan Stanley.

On July 30, Mendoza was riding her bike on Austin Avenue with her husband and 4-year-old son when "all of a sudden this huge truck just plowed through the red light" at Gunnison Street "like he didn't even see it," Mendoza said.

A few blocks later, the comptroller and her family rolled up to Higgins Avenue to find that the same driver — who appeared "under the influence of something" — had launched his Ford Super Duty into a line of three cars, leaving one woman with a "gash" on her arm, Mendoza said.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, "Say 'Cheese!" I loved this when it first hit the news back in 2017, and I have long been a fan of Susanna Mendoza's style. But not this time. She's not what Chicago needs.

I love the discussion all over social media about the mayoral candidates. Thoughtful, insightful, and passionate. I miss Chicago and wish I could fly back to vote (that'd be wrong).
