New pavement is done on Garfield from King Dr. to the Dan Ryan. It looks like striping is mostly done. I thought there were supposed to be bike lanes there, but right now there's a wide blank space where they would go. 

Does anyone with CDOT have info on that?

Lots of dumps, rollers, etc. on Cortland at I-94 this morning, so it looks like it will be repaved by the end of the afternoon.

Diversey has lots of little chunks of bad pavement milled out from about Ravenswood to Kedzie or so.

The bike lane is going to make the driving lane much narrower.

Lisa, how do you feel about the new bike lanes on Hubbard? To me they seem superfluous, but you have said before that it had been getting a little hairy on Hubbard during the post-7:30am timeframe.

Alex, do we need the lanes? No.  Hubbard has always been a great route and even with what seems to be extra traffic lately, there is still space for everyone.  Can't say yet whether the presence of the lanes is slowing anyone down, especially since center lane markings are not yet in east of Ogden.

Resurfacing of 99th St. has finally started. They ground down a section from Western past Leavitt yesterday. This morning the crew was working on the eastbound lane passing Walden and the Metra tracks. Not sure how far they'll get today, but if you're traveling by bike in that area this evening, you'll probably want to avoid 99th between Prospect and Western - lots of groovy pavement and raised manhole covers.

Halsted between Chicago and Milwaukee has been repaved!! It's now a smooth stretch of pavement, sans markings (as of 4pm Saturday).

There's still a lane narrowing on the bridge if you're heading northbound (beware, it sends you across the grates, not the concrete-filled bike lane), but it's easy to spot and drivers have been curteous when I've gone through and taken the lane.

Also, unrelated, there's construction on southbound Elston at Division that isn't well marked. The traffic lane is actually nudged over into the bike lane without warning or signage. I found it easiest to ride in the bike lane up to the intersection, then zipper merge with traffic. It's only merged for a few feet, then the protected lane resumes. Alarming at best if you aren't expecting it -especially with heavy truck traffic through the area. It would be nice if they erected a "shared lane" sign or some heads up to cyclists before you get rich up to the pinch point.

I couldn't believe it when I saw them laying the asphalt Saturday morning. I was taking Halsted south to Grand just out of expedience and was thinking how much that section was going to suck and being generally pessimistic, thinking that it would never be fixed, when I rolled up on Chicago. Mind blown.

Repaving on 99th St. between Western and Genoa (I-57) is almost done. It's a miracle!

The gate is now open and the work on the boat landing is completed.  The path is fully open and the fencing that closed the path has been taken down.

You can ride on the upper path, or on the lower path alongside the river bank.  Stop and get a good view of the boat landing.

Chicago ave from Milwaukee east to at least Orleans(?) is completely tore up. As with any road construction, I'm upset that it's created an inconvenience, but glad that it's being repaved finally.

That section of Chicago is forever awful, and I believe it's because of the cement trucks that pull in and out of there all the time. That's a lot of extra punishment for a road. If I were Mayor, I'd demand a free pour from Ozinga every two years on that stretch. They could use it to showcase their latest premium blended concrete.
