New bike helmet with front and rear action cameras now on Kickstarter.
The Cyclevision Edge helmet boasts built-in cameras in front and back.
Comparable and lower in cost than the Fly12, $279 and the Fly 6, $179.
"Cyclevision is currently looking for funding the Edge on Kickstarter with the helmet available to early bird backers for $350. Shipments are expected to take place in July if the device is able to cross over the funding line."
Do you think this would a easier/useful way to incorporate an action cam setup for your every day riding?

Poor Brent Spiner, he even gets typecast as the "sexy" robot...
I'd prefer a standalone camera system that I can use with my choice of helmet or move from helmet to helmet.
What camera system setup are you using now?
Sorry, I thought I posted a reply to your question. At least I know I typed an answer. I guess I didn't click "add reply". So it's good that the discussion is re-opened.
I currently have an early generation Go Pro knock off that I picked up at Menards a few years ago for about $25. It works but I can't control it remotely.
I also have a Fuji weatherproof camera with a wide angle lens that I can control remotely via phone app. It works okay too but neither of those is suitable as a "dash cam" to continuously record what goes on in front or behind me. For that the ideal camera(s) do continuous loop recording.
I like the looks of that GitUp G3 setup with the slave cam. I'll likely be getting that soon.
Great, Thanks Vince! I think every cyclist should have some type of suitable camera. I believe that it would contribute to a better overall image and respectful attitude towards our community from vehicular drivers if most cyclists have them. And, it might cause all to properly behave.
I have an action cam from this company and it works fine. For under $200, you could get their G3 with a slave camera that plugs into the main camera to capture rear-facing video or any other angle you want. The pro packing version comes with the skeleton case and all the mounts you would need to get started.
I am not a camera mount.

The Cyclevision helmet would have been useful in this situation.
The cyclist removes his camera from the handlebar mount and aims it to the rear.
