An update from Wednesday:

The bicyclist was hit about 5:15 a.m. on the ramp connecting southbound Torrence Avenue and eastbound I-80/94, according to Illinois State Police.

The bicyclist was dead on the scene, state police said.

He was later identified as Gene Allen Scow Jr., 46, of the 100 block of Hillcrest Lane in Bartlett, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The ramp was temporarily  closed to traffic, state police said.

State Police have not been able to determine why the bicyclist was on the ramp, and no citations have been issued in the accident, a State Police spokeswoman said late Wednesday.

Sad and not at all clear from the brief news reports what really happened.

From Bartlett? He was a long way from home.

This is a mega-intersection where the ramps for 88/94 connect with the Torrence overpass of 80/94. If you look at the view on Googlemaps it makes more sense that the victim was trying to cross the intersection of the ramp and Torrence and was hit rather than riding on the exit ramp.

My thought as well. Not an easy intersection to cross.

I would love to know more about what happened and why the driver was not cited for anything.
