I saw a Divvy biked locked up outside of Irazu, on Milwaukee Ave., on Saturday night. I'd be curious to learn whether the user was unaware of the 30 minute limit or just making a choice to incur the fees.
I saw a Divvy sittin' at the Hideout for the whole Veggie Bingo game last week, like from 5:30-8pm, and I found out it was being used by someone working for Divvy, so she had no restraints on her time...
The good thing was that a bunch of people got to see a Divvy bike close up, and one even test rode it. I hope they start doing this Divvy out of context thing consciously - it's good for PR. Good thread idea!
That's what I'm thinking. I've seen people laying around on Chicago beaches next to Divvy bikes. I wonder if they know "unlimited" actually means 30 minutes at at time.

The Bicycling Ambassadors were at Fullerton yesterday and talked to (and tried to talk to) some of the folks just hanging out with their Divvy bikes at the beach. Most of the folks they talked to were not bothered by the extra fees.

Apparently so! It was driving by on the far side of the street, so I didn't get a good look at how well it was secured.

I did mention to someone I was riding with it would have been an excellent promotion to hire some people to ride Divvys on each of the Four Star routes.
I've posted elsewhere about this but I saw a Divvy bike in the bike corral at the new concert venue on Northerly Island. I can't imagine what fees that person incurred.
We saw someone riding 4Star (not this guy) with a Divvy bike because her bike was in the shop. She was a Divvy member and had planned out a couple of dock surfing spots along the route. She also mentioned that even if she incurred late fees, it was still cheaper to Divvy than rent a bike.
Thanks,

I saw this guy doing the 62 miles Four Star route on a Divvy on Sunday.
This is him at the Rogers Park water stop. Likely a tourist he had picked up the bike at hotel downtown. He seemed totally unprepared, but a few hours later I did see him again at the rest stop. I assume he went north to the botanic garden. He likely incurred the maximum fees ($108).
