The Chainlink

You blew the red light east bound on Lawrence at Damen at 5:26 pm this evening.

There was enough time for the biker in front of me to make it half way into the intersection, northbound on Damen, before you came whizzing past my front wheel.

I yelled "You're an idiot!" at your big haired chick, self, and you looked back at me. I meant it!

I woulda testified for any of the cars, that managed to not kill you, if they had.

Keep riding like a tard!

love,

gabe

Witness bad behavior during your commute? Feel free to post. Maybe that lovely human can read it and think they are famous. Maybe you can also inspire the whole generation of kids to shower but we can start with small things.

all the development that's turned it into a little Schaumburg

LOL!

Riding on the sidewalk on some of the dead-er areas of North and Division over the river strikes me as a not-so-egregious cycling offense, given the traffic conditions during certain hours.

I'm right with you on the wave-through.  I hate it, especially, when it's a car on my right that is making a right turn.  They are just going to pass me, anyway.  If you have the right of way, just go.  And let me follow the rules.

Should the Dearborn bike lane be renamed as an extended sidewalk or the oblivious zone. 4 people walking in it 2 staring at their phones as they just stepped into the lane. Luckily I was able to stop. Your mother should have told you to look both ways before crossing the street.

Watched Skeezy McSleazypants leer at the woman passing him going through Chicago on Milwaukee and mouthing "Hello there" or something as I had a coffee this morning - I really hope, for her sake, that he skipped the speaking-out-loud part, making it the best kind of missed connection.

some how it is not as creepy when she says it

AMAZING.

That won't be a good idea once "concealed carry" becomes effective.  ;-)

BTW, were their butts extending into bike lane air space? If not, you could get nailed for "assault" (no pun intended!)... if they could catch you. Be careful out there!

EDIT: I notice the episode here was filmed from inside a car. I take it you do this from a bike? ;-)

I'd be tempted. But possibly it's not hygienic. :-(

bahahaha assault - nice.

i have never actually done this - i just get this almost uncontrollable urge when i'm in the kinzie bike lane passing by people who are encroaching into it.

arrive at irving park and damen. two others arrive, pull on my left. both pass me in the intersection, but i stay behind the guy on the cervelo. ooo...nice bike...anyway...a couple of blocks later someone is trying to turn left in to an alley in their Suburban. the guy who used the intersection to launch himself was on a brakeless bike with no foot retention and wound up making a hard right to avoid the Suburban, then bailed it on the sidewalk. didn't stand a chance. if you're going to ride that sort of bike at least respect the traffic and take your time...I was scared for him!

Shout out to the 70+ yr old man who yelled at the cop riding on the sidewalk at Halstead and Washington, "YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO RIDE IN THE BIKE LANE!". Cop took one look, kept goin...

Way to go to the 70+ yr old man who yelled at the cop riding on the sidewalk.  A cop yelled at me recently and I couldn't figure out why.  Turns out he is just angry at bike riders and had no real valid reason.  Why can't we all just share the space!  No reason for haters!

To the guy in the fancy BMW who tried to turn right in front of me as the light changed to green after we'd both been waiting there for a minute or so: so sorry if I startled you with my AIR HORN! But thanks for slamming on your brakes and giving me the right-of-way that was mine anyway.  :-)
