Cyclist seriously injured in Berwyn
I don't have much information other than what's in the story:

Thursday, someone who knows the rider posted on a local FB page that he was still in ICU.
This happened 2 blocks from us and we go through that intersection virtually every day whether driving, walking, or biking. In fact, my daughter and I passed through there on our tandem shortly before this happened. It is one of my least favorite intersections to ride or walk through. The City of Berwyn installed a red light camera there due to the high number of accidents, but it only monitors 26th street, not East Avenue.

An event is a great idea.
Does anyone have direct contact with the family? Would be good to get specifics on what funds are needed for. That also might highlight needs that some of us might be have the skills or resources to fill in other ways. Typically in a situation like this the hospital and skilled nursing facility costs are not going to be out-of-pocket but as things progress there will certainly be specific needs that emerge that can make a difference in the quality of life of the injured person.

Mid or late March sounds really great.
I have contact with Justin's wife through Facebook. I reached out to her just now and asked her to let me know about anything she might need, so I can put a call out on here. She's very grateful for all the support from the Chainlink so far.

Hi Allison. That is so cool about the fundraiser. You can let them know that the funds will be used for any medical bills that aren't covered by the settlement and our health insurance, as well as his long term rehab. They funds will also help pay our expenses due to the loss of his income.
As far as resources, I could definitely use a recommendation for a good tax accountant in the area. If I think of anything else, I will let you know.

Just thought I'd update everyone with the latest on Justin's condition.
Friday night:
I had a great time with Justin today. He gave me a very clear thumbs up. Then I noticed that he was drawing what looked like letters on his pillow with his finger...
So I gave him a marker and a notepad and he was definitely trying to write something. It was hard to read his writing and he seemed to get frustrated that I couldn't understand, but I will keep trying. This is very exciting!Saturday:
Justin is writing a lot today. Unfortunately, I'm not able to read most of it.
The amazing thing is that he wrote some names on command!
He wrote Justin, Kim, Gillian, Misha, Brian, and Dan. I'm so proud of him!Sunday:
Today we Skyped with Misha, Brian, and Gillian. Justin really seemed to like it and he even smiled a few times. I found his old glasses and I was able to put them on him so he could see better.
Justin was also writing a lot this morning. I couldn't read most of it, but at one point I asked him if he knew where he was and he wrote "hospital".And today!!!!!!!

Justin was moved to RML specialty hospital yesterday. The update today is:
Justin is doing great on his first day at RML. He has been on the trach collar (breathing on his own) for over 8 hours. They plan to do it for 12 hours today and 16 tomorrow.
He is calm and comfortable. We tried on some Warby Parker glasses so I can buy him a new pair to replace the ones that broke. He was also writing today. Great job Justin!
