International Thoughts

Just updated this forum name from - "International Thoughts - 3 Chainlinkers Travel through Israel" to just "International Thoughts".

So coincidentally, three Chainlinkers just happen to be on the same tour of Israel; Fiona, Rebecca and Julie. We are having a blast! Fiona is taking a bunch of Israeli bike porn.. The three of us are drooling over all the bikes ewe are seeing in the markets, streets and even the Old City.

So here is the question we pose - What have your expereinces been regarding biking in foreign countries? Have you been surprised at what these counties do for bikers?

Excuse the spelling, I'm paying for this internet.

I'm in Paris now, what an awesome bike friendly city. They have a free bike program called Velib.

I have never cycled in Mexico, but I love going to the small towns in the Yucatan and seeing all the mtb single speed conversions. I almost bought one in a Merida pawn shop for $10. And the tricitaxis are everywhere too. Life is so much slower 1500 miles South. Some day.

I biked all day in 2004 entirely in Munich's english garden (way bigger than central park).

it was bike heaven to say the least.

That sounds like a terrific trip. I'd love to visit Israel & Palestine some day. Israel seems like it would be a very bikeable country, for no reason that I can really articulate. Do post pics. As for certain replies, just don't feed the trolls.

I was disappointed that I was not able to do any riding when i was in India recently (I did try, but there were none available.) Riding around tea-estate hills on a copy of an old English roadster was really appealing.

Sorry you feel my post was hostile.

I resent the implication.

Perhaps you misread my post. I replied to a post that stated "the jews(sp) don't have the guts to just exterminate the Palistinian(sp) population".

My reply was stating that perhaps they wouldnt exterminate a population of people because they were at one time a target of the same action.

Funny but I'm not one bit raw, hostile, or angry.

Even after reading what you are telling me how I feel.

Folks, please check post dates-- no point in beating down controversy that's been lying dormant and forgotten for a year or more . . . the people you're responding to may not even frequent this site anymore.

Thanks John, no problem. I'm glad we could work it out!

But you are right, it was going negative and I probably shouldnt have even replied to the original post (i.e. Jews exterminating Palestinians) to perpetuation to problem. I was a little offended by it.
