Update for 2018: It's back in the 'hood!

Venue Change 2018: Humboldt Park
Venue Change 2017: Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island

Tour de Fat Chicago will be held at Northerly Island this year ! It will be held on July 29, 2017 from 4pm to 9pm. The event admission cost is $30. New Belgium is still supporting WestTown Bikes / Ciclo Urbano with its proceeds.

There also seems to be an elimination of the ever popular TDF Bike Parade. :'(

Hopefully not, but i'm sure it'll be more than the two token price at Palmer square.
You are correct.

Maybe you could contact SanHamel at his all-you-can-drink website and find out.

Then go for a drive...

The parade was the best part, and Palmer Square was a great venue.  They seem to be losing focus.  Perhaps the event is now being planned by people who don't actually ride bicycles.

There's a spontaneous gathering of bicyclists on the last Friday of every month downtown in Delay Plaza.  Maybe we could have some kind of gathering around Palmer Square during a weekend date.  I'm not sure how we would turn it into a fundraising thing for West Town Bike, but if we could schedule a gathering and a bike parade I'd certainly like to be included.

Here is a cool video I posted of all the bicycles parked around the perimeter last year.

Endless love! Great video Tom. Thanks for sharing. Why would anyone want to change this?
A tribute thread might be nice, especially if things don't materialize ideally in July...

It won't change anything this year but a series of letters and social network communications to New Belgium and the event sponsors will show that they are losing their cycling audience and families.  They do not want to hear our dissatisfaction with them.  Unfortunately yet another music event downtown will still sell out and they will still make their money - just lose their souls.
