Shower and Change in the Loop

Long time listener, first time caller...

For the past couple of years I've been riding into the loop from Rogers Park and using a hotel health club a block from my office (LaSalle and Adams) to shower and change and use a locker for the day.  So convenient and made for a quick transition from bike-to-work-to-bike.  The club is closed for renovations for the next two months and the weather is getting too nice to ignore.  Looking for recommendations within a block or two of my office?  The McDonald's center is just too inconvenient and out of the way since I usually just take Clark Street back and forth.  Yes, I'm that spoiled that I don't want to go a mile out of my way.  Ideas?

There is an Equinox at Wells and Monroe.  I don't know if they offer a membership to only use the locker room, but it wouldn't hurt to call and ask.

Thanks, should've mentioned I did call them earlier today.  Very firmly advised that only full memberships are offered, to ensure the proper experience o-O

This came up at the Mayor's Bicycle Advisory Council Meeting. 

In the Bike Plan for 2015 (that's this year!) one item that was 'planned' was another bike place like the McDonald's Center, only closer to the loop and business district.  It was pointed out the the present bike parking/shower/locker isn't very convenient. 

This Bike Plan for 2015 was probably laid out in 2005-2010, and there's a few other things on this that were planned not never completed.

Kathy Schubert, a neighborhood representative on the Council brought up this question.

It's one thing to plan things, another thing to actually get them accomplished.

Sounds like we do a similar commute - I regularly ride from Edgewater to my place of work at the Bank of America building (LaSalle/Adams). Out of interest what was the name of the Hotel Health Club you used to use?

BritBoy we work in the same building. Wish we had a facility there. At least we have a secure spot for the bikes. For two years I was at the Valeo club in the basement of the JW Marriott on Adams. Valeo is no longer the manager there; the hotel is taking over. Last I heard the renovations looked to be completed by the end of June. Remains to be seen if they'll still offer a reduced fee for shower/locker limited use membership.
