"Structural violence"
(Where does it reference Twit or Face?)
Route-wise it's a redo of (your) 2009 Southside Chillout ride.
Personally I'm not overjoyed with the shaming, but SL believe's its the needed approach in response to emails received by the CCM site and some feedbacks following July's mass (aggro boys reportedly threatened female ride leaders).
There's some discussion on FB including a FTFY version which mutes the tone some.
Are the quotation marks used here to indicate irony or is there a definition and how it specifically applies to this "backstory" that is missing?

I can't get Facebook at work but it sounds like you're saying yes, it does follow from discussion on Facebook? I never heard anything at all about e-mails to the CCM site or "some feedbacks."
Just looks random to me and most participants will have no clue what it's referencing.

OK, I see it now.
This ride ended up getting turned north at 21st and California in 2009 by someone who was afraid to ride through Latino neighborhoods (I was right there and heard the crap he'd been spewing up to that point.) Would probably take a pretty solid group of map-huggers in front for it to fare differently.
Can anyone remind me what time CM actually leaves Daley Plaza? 6:30?
Pictures, from the start of the August ride at the Delay Center.

One video too.
Great ride tonight. Beautiful weather, tons of smiling pedestrians waving.
Yup, I would say the "whoopee, some sort of bike parade" spectator population outsized the "my feet hurt and I just want to get home" spectator population by at least a few percentage points last night.
I hopped off just into Chinatown to watch the ride go by, and felt like a lot of riders were coming back west not long after-- did the ride break up in Chinatown?

Don't know; I stopped at Skylark when we got to Cermak/Halsted. ;)
