The Chainlink

I'm thinking we could leave early on a Saturday, stay the night, and then head back Sunday afternoon. It's about 50 miles, so probably take 5 hours or so. I've never ridden it, so if anyone has a path or suggestions, post em!

Maybe last weekend in May or First in June...?

I don't know if you guys were still planning out a route, but I think there's a great route that avoids a lot of the crappy industrial areas and uses a lot of bike paths. I wish I could join you guys that weekend, but I'm booked. Here's the website for a route that a local charity based tour is using from Millenium Park to Indiana Dunes and beyond.

Where is Estelles?
man, i feel out of the loop. been busy and forgot how much planning still needed to be done. just curious, i'll reserve a spot for myself if need be, but have there already been enough spots reserved by people to accommodate everyone attending? if that's the case, i'll gladly pay a portion for a spot, but i'd rather not reserve a spot unnecessarily. and lindsey, did you want the extra space in my tent? if not, i'll offer it up to someone else.
oh yeah. i don't think i get off till midnight on tuesday, but i'll make it there quick as i can if someone will at least stay long enough to fill me in on the details and discussions when i get there.
its in wicker park...i belive on north ave. a couple doors west of damen. or somthing like that.

hey brandon.
we have three camping sites (brett, myself and Anne reserved them). that should accomodate up to 18 peeps... i'm sure squeezing in a couple more if need be won't be an issue. if you don't end up making it on tuesday...i'll gladly fill you in on wednesday... i'll just get your number from Amy.
we will split the cost of all three camp sites between everyone when we all get there. so far for all three it was $150.. we had to pay for friday and saturday :( to get the spots at all.
if you have any other questions let me know.

Just want to second Jamimaria's statement that it would be great to see this trip repeated during July.

I'm a more experienced camper than road-trip biker, and I've camped at the dunes getting there by train. Here is a what-to-bring list from my old camping club, from www.campersgroup.org:

What to bring
Bring a tent, a sleeping bag, an air mattress or foam pad, food, plates, cups, utensils, soap, towels, toiletries, jeans, shorts, shirts, socks, a bathing suit, a warm jacket, walking shoes or boots, a flashlight and a rain poncho or slicker.
Everyone still on for the meet-and-greet tomorrow night at Estelle's?
