I haven't seen it yet, but the Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Wells Street bridge reopened this morning. ^Like Alex says.^

They are installing a traffic light at Kinzie and Canal. Probably to placate the condo owners on the northside of Kinzie. Which will, on average, have to wait even longer now, with their light being red at least half the time.

Wells is open across the Chicago River!

Nice, brightly-painted bike lane across the bridge.

Kinzie was full of traffic cones this morning over the river and I was like WHAT in the world but then I saw they're just re-striping the crosswalks, etc. That's good; it would be awesome if they re-installed the many bollards that have been run over, but I guess I don't expect they will.

Don't know if it is related, but it seemed there was less eastbound car traffic on Kinzie from Des Plaines this morning, and also on southbound LaSalle.  Guess we will see over the next few days.

And for all intents and purposes, Kinzie bridge bike lanes are open, too.

How is Milwaukee looking these days? I haven't had the courage to bike on it in weeks (and consequently haven't seen whether the situation has changed).

Someone has to have more current info, but I rode it last Friday (11/15) and it was still torn up.

I've heard this week from folks who ride it regularly that it still sucks - still under construction.

Chicago Bridge is also still under construction - and they seemed to have torn up the sidewalk before the bridge, so not even THAT is an option. I've been bussing. :/

I actually don't mind the light so much on Kinzie, so long as it's timed sensibly. I'd much rather wait out a light than deal with all of the silly stop signs (especially the one at Franklin). For one of our "best" bike lanes, it's absolutely exhausting to ride through if you're following traffic laws precisely.

The light was flashing red tonight.  It looks like it has turn signals and everything.  Will be interesting.

I rode Milwaukee from the Loop north this evening (11/21) and can attest to the fact that it's still heinous, but it's a different kind of heinous. Northbound lanes have been moved to the west so that N/B lanes and S/B lanes are adjacent to each other. Looks like it will still be awhile.

I am happy to report that the construction near the Chicago Avenue bridge was cleared up this evening. Drivers, please resume your 45mph accelerations to the nearest stoplight.
