Yup. Time to go home. Lost a glove last weekend, and I suspect I'll be missing gloves on the way home. Will likely stop at a shop on the way to get a replacement.
Bummer. On a night like this, cheap work gloves, from a hardware store, work pretty well in a pinch.
Great day to be a reverse commuter. Winds were south-southwest, so mostly at my back on the way up this morning. All that rain gear (plasticized jacket, rain pants, neoprene kayak gloves, helmet cover, and Carradice shoe covers) can be kind of a pain (lots of extra steps, and felt like I was in a trash bag) but worked well. Now I'm about to head out; it's dry, lights are all charged up, and I'm looking at a lovely tailwind home. Life is good. Stay cyclic, my friends.

Yep. It felt (to me) like the coolest morning yet this fall. My toes were a little frosty; time to pull the winter socks out.
To repeat the original post that started this thread almost 3 years and over 10000 posts ago.
"Nice first ride in the COLD."
It was cold. But it was SUNNY-- gotta soak that up at all costs. I don't do well without sunshine.
Nice refreshing chill in the air but I have to remember sunglasses, heading SE on Lincoln from Damen to Wells was tough and probably dangerous with the constant squinting.
I came across a dead goose in Douglas Park this morning. DO NOT CLICK THE LINK if blood makes you queasy or you have uncontrollable empathy towards animals. I dislike the geese as much as the next guy, but whoever ran this one over is an asshole. They generally move out of the way when you approach.

Maybe it's now cold enough that the guys with bikes costing a few thousand dollars, tights costing a few hundred dollars but no money for lights or reflectors will stop using the trail for time trial practice.
Other than that I'm loving the weather.
