A police officer I know responded to a call the other night. An unknown man was attempting to take two bikes from the garage of a condo building in Old Town. He escaped with one. The officer recovered the other and hopes that the owner will file a police report and claim it.

If you live in Old Town and store your bike in the garage, you may want to check on it if you haven't in the last few days. If it's missing, please file a police report. Yours might be the bike that was recovered.

I don't know the details of how the system works but wouldn't it make sense for the police to go to the condo building to which the garage belongs and to try to find the owner there? If it's a small building maybe a flyer on the door would do. If it's a big building they might have an email list or a newsletter that could be sent out. If it's a big building there will probably be a dedicated management which should take the initiative in finding the owner.

The officer tried that, but was unsuccessful.

Hi! I had my bike stolen from an old town condo/rental garage. It was either the 6th, 7th, or 8th of October. It was a gray fixed gear bike. Leader frame.

Can I contact the officer? Or can you find out if it was my building?

The time frame is about right. The person who saw the thief and called the police scared the guy into dropping the second bike (recovered). He got away riding the other one. Unfortunately, your description does not match the recovered bike. Wish I had better news.
