Long Haul Trucker owners

Any Surly Long Haul Trucker owners planning on riding the North Shore Century? I just finished building a 26" Disc Trucker and I'm having a blast riding it. I registered to ride the NSC a few weeks back. It'll be my third this year and my third century this year. However, this will be my first Surly LHT/DT century ride. Just wondering if any other Surly LHT/DT owners are planning on riding and if so if you'd like to meet up and try riding together. Sort of a #drinkingtheSurlyKoolAid century-ridin' posse.

I am riding my fairly new, beloved LHT, but only the metric century.  And I know you would be too fast for me anyway.  But anyone--LHT or not, who wants to ride the metric at 12 to 13, let me know!

I wasn't planning on riding it, but it's a very comfortable way to do so.  Bring along about fifty pounds of extra weight to make the ride a little more plush.

Don't know if you were responding to OP or to me, but I definitely swapped to a Brooks.  What a difference!

I'm responding to anyone who owns a Trucker. :)  Mine came with a WTB SST saddle - like sitting on a rock!  Immediately replaced with a Brooks Flyer.

+1  Don't know what it was but it was miserable.  I went with the sprung Flyer.

Ride the LHT. Treat the century as a good day out on your world tour!

I love my LHT (with Brooks B17 N Imperial), full kit (fenders, front and rear pannier racks, lights) and I ride it everyday!

I don't own one, but am seriously considering a 700c Disc Trucker for a new commuting bike, and replacing the drop handlebars for more upright ones.

It's overkill for communing unless you are heavy (check, for me) or want to use it for loaded work like touring or heavy shopping (also check).  For $470 shipped to your door (at least the non disc version) the frame and fork is hard to beat, though.

Here is mine with the Velo Porteur bars that Comrade Cycles recommended:


I am really enjoying this bike, even though I don't regularly carry that much weight.  It is pretty nice for longer distances, my longest so far having been a little over 60 miles.  Of course my  Linus Dutchi 8 really works just fine for my relatively short commutes.
