Commuting home on Augusta from Oak Park this evening I lost my brand new, bright yellow, Axiom monsoon pannier and did not notice until I got most of the way home. I back tracked most of my route but I am pretty sure it is gone for good but it never hurts to put the word out...

Dug, not such a good month, 'eh? Tell me what book. If I have it, (I have a pretty big pile of books) you can have it. Unless it is one I want to keep. Then you can borrow it. ;-)
sorry to hear about that. it happened once to a friend but a car saw it and honked its horn and freaked her out until she realized what they were honking and pointing at.
I'm paranoid about my pannier falling off. Hope you find it.
was last night, I am sure it is long gone by now. Just a rough road and thinking about getting home, not checking my bags.
Sorry to hear it. I hope the rest of your summer is better.
It has happened to me twice. The most recent time was a few years back - downtown with lots of traffic noise. The first time was on a 15 mile commute (from Evanston to Chicago) some of which was loud and some wasn't. I was wearing earbuds that time. Since that incident I switched to only listening to NPR with one earbud in - on the non-traffic side and not turned up very loud. Neither time was I using Ortleibs which do not seem like they'll ever fall off given the clampy rack hooks.
Sorry dug!

Weird thing is I have had the same bags in the past and NEVER had one come off. With the new ones not only did I have this one come off but the other bag has come off TWICE in normal riding. I am sending Axiom an e-mail about it...
