three cheers to Heritage Bicycles on Lincoln Ave.
(and to Elizabeth for telling me about them)

when I ride my road bike I never take a lock; and needed to stop for a snack
yesterday. most coffee shops (without having to mention any names) treat
you like some kind of unwashed heathen, etc. when you sneak a bike in.
they have the BEST baked goods too. I had an awesome crasberry scone.
I'm sure the coffees, etc. are equally awesome.

they have some really nice bikes there too....the usual disclaimers apply
(no affiliation, blah blah blah)

In an attempt to recover from "not that I'm complaining" Adam's threadjack, I will second the overall niceness of Heritage and also give another shout-out to Big Shoulders Coffee At Chicago and Milwaukee. I have always been able to bring my bike in with me (there is never room on the racks outside) and the owner and employees have always been outstandingly nice in all ways. I make a point of going there.

Are you a bigger fan of the sad trombone or the worlds tiniest violin?

I had a great experience at Heritage, and it would seem that the majority of folks posting reviews out there would agree. Must blow to be so negative about so many things... have a great day buddy, apparently you don't have many so I truly wish you well.

How about a hug?

While we are at it I'd like to thank Giordano's on Belmont from few weeks ago. I was late showing up, my friends already had their food. Upon my request the staff happily reseated my friends and their food to a window seat where I could watch my bike out the window :)

Agreed Evan, unfortunately everey time HC&C comes up Adam makes sure to post at least twice per thread how bad he thinks they are.

It's my civic duty.

Persnickety!

I just feel that people should know about my experience before deciding to give Heritage their money.

I'm also in the camp that bringing your bike into any business unless it's a bike shop is obnoxious. I once saw a pair of roadies bringing their bikes into the grocery store to shop, taking up the entire aisle so no one could get around them.

come on Adam, delete your posts. way to derail the conversation.

Are you asserting that a mechanic messing up my bike, then refusing to acknowledge it is a minor detail that I am being "persnickety" about? Or were you referring to the complaint about the bikes in the grocery store?
