To the rider who got hit on California yesterday... (Sunday)

My co-worker just told me your story in the office kitchen.

She called 911 for you from out front her place smoking & they transferred her to the fire department (??) which definitely doesn't seem right.

From what I have heard & read, calling 911 is the right thing to do because you should file a police report. Seeing as you thought you were bleeding, a piece of the car was on the street, and your wheel was bent/under the car/screwed up from being hit, a report should have been filed.

Hope you are OK. Posting hear because I am fairly taken aback that the call got transferred to fire and the police did not handle or report.

I do the same, only thing to do to help everyone & provide reinforcement. It is hard to accept that riders just have to accept it after being hit.

I agree. I accept that there is risk. I do not accept that riders have to be hit, especially by drivers who do not signal or do not look. When I go in knowing there is risk I find that my senses are heightened and I am better able to respond when...it happens. There is still no excuse for drivers, riders or pedestrians who are not on their game.
